up the skimpy boat in rage. Half the crew was horribly sea sick, but what we managed to capture after all the effort is truly remarkable. For his contribution to the Indian film industry and ushering Indian films into the International film fraternity, celebrated filmmaker and environmentalist Mike Pandey was recently honoured with the “Award for Cinematographers Association(WICA).

“Being placed on a pedestal where legends like Raj Kapoor and Nargis Dutt once stood, is a great achievement and to be given this honour by the commercial sector of filmmakers makes this feat even more commendable, “says Mike.

The filmmaker who has in the near past bagged three Green Oscars at Wild Screen further adds, “A filmmaker’s role in the society is to share information, which brings about a change and that is what I constantly aspire to do through my films. Documentary films are the backbone of a country and the Indian documentary film scene is now finally emerging after  overcoming a stagnant period.” Mike Pandey directed The Last Migration that dealt with the imprisonment of wild elephants in Sarguja. It was the firs Asian documentary to win a Green Oscar. His Other films are The Vanishing Giants and The Shores of Silence. Talking about his experience as a director, he says, “The making of The Shores of Silence  was an enormous challenge. While shooting, the ocean behaved like a furious beast churning
