Mike H. Pandey and
honours are not new to each other. Pandey, an
international Delhiite, filmmaker, conservationist
and three time winner of the Green Oscar was
recently felicitated with honorary life membership
by WICA (Western India Cinematographers Association)
for his contributions to the field of cinematic art.
Recipient of various prestigious awards including
the United Nations Prithvi Ratan and the Panda Award
at the Wildscreen Festival in Bristol, Pandey
affirms that an award adds a lot of respect to one’s
work. “Receiving an award is always a big
motivation.” He says, adding,” it’s an assurance
that your work has been noticed. It also assures
that your work will reach out to enough people will
leave the desired impact”.
Born in Kenya and trained and education in the UK
and the US, Pandey’s romance with the camera began
when he was all of seven years old.
Though he’s done a few feature films, he believes
that there’s a lot more to be done. “We need to come
out of the dream world. Bollywood does make an
impact on the minds of Indian people. If utilised
properly, it can do wonders”. |
